NV BrIM

As an independent limited liability company, N.V. BrIM Breda is responsible for selling business areas in Breda. This means it maintains close relations with various city departments including Economic Affairs and Land Development.

The department of Economic Affairs has 1.7 jobs for the BrIM activities. In the course of time these people have become very experienced in encouraging (foreign) investment, operating in a vast network of relevant market parties and maintaining  a good fraternal relationship with account managers of the department of Economic Affairs and other relevant departments of the City of Breda. Besides, there are close contacts with the other municipalities of the West-Brabant region and NV BOM and NV REWIN investment partners.

Mission

Stimulating economic development and employment (encouraging investment) in the West-Brabant region by offering customized possibilities of company accommodation in Breda through marketing, sales and relation management.

Aims

  1. Maintaining a dynamic and sustainable economic structure by getting new companies to set up business and facilitating existing companies in their request for space;
  2. Creating new jobs through a policy of active marketing and encouragement for investment;
  3. Striving for a careful and intensive use of space in Breda’s new and existing business areas; 

Core activities

N.V. BrIM Breda has four core activities:

  • Selling and re-selling company lots in Breda;
  • Encouraging new economic functions for Breda;
  • Promoting Breda as a strong and strategic business location for (inter)national companies

Sale and re-sale

N.V. BrIM Breda’s main concern is establishing the sale transaction of business sites. This includes full support of the client during the whole administrative procedure e.g. several licence procedures.

Encouraging investment

By networking, signalling, analysing and recording developments and trends on the business real estate market, N.V. BrIM Breda emphatically keeps track of opportunities for investment. Through its cooperation with intermediaries such as BOM, REWIN, real estate professionals and consulting agencies, potential candidates are actively approached and supported, with an obvious aim to get new companies to set up business here so that new employment is created for Breda.

Marketing

To put Breda on the map as an attractive (inter)national place to set up business, N.V. BrIM Breda applies several forms of marketing such as organising events, multimedia advertising, being present at fairs and co-organising trade delegations, fact-finding trips and investment seminars.

Relation management

Maintaining good contacts with clients is done in cooperation with the account managers (company contact officials) of the department of Economic Affairs.
N.V. BrIM Breda fulfils its relation management task by especially using international establishers as ambassadors for the promotion of Breda. Furthermore, it is important to track the already established growth companies in their need for accommodation. Thanks to years of ICT implementation a more professional method of supporting the core activities has been developed. As far as process management is concerned, N.V. BrIM Breda provides customer-oriented support of companies in meeting their need for accommodation in Breda. In doing so, serious attempts are made by N.V. BrIM Breda to realise one central window for potential establishers, which also includes steering and supporting necessary (licensing) procedures.
Since recently, N.V. BrIM Breda’s website has offered direct access to Breda’s current supply of office and company space. This database has a direct link with the various databases of Breda’s most important real estate agents.

N.V. BrIM Breda’s unique position

Breda’s ambition is to show a high international profile and also to grow by strengthening its economic structure. One of the important steps is for the municipal body to make an effort to get foreign companies to set up business in Breda.
This requires capacity and commitment on the part of the municipality, which has made the City of Breda decide to use N.V. BrIM Breda as an instrument.

Recognisability in the market

N.V. BrIM Breda was founded 50 years ago. According to recent market research these years of effort and dedication has earned N.V. BrIM Breda a sound reputation among Breda’s entrepreneurs when it comes to encouraging investment and supporting Breda’s new establishers. Business people say that N.V. BrIM Breda definitely has an added value for Breda. N.V. BrIM Breda is judged to be flexible, cooperative, accurate, efficient and customer-oriented.

Ltd stucture

N.V. BrIM Breda is a limited liability company, which allows it to operate flexibly and more entrepreneurially as an independent private entity. As such, N.V. BrIM Breda plays the role of intermediary between the City of Breda and business and is the executive body in the field of encouraging company investment.
The fact that N.V. BrIM Breda is a limited liability company may play a practical role in the future in (re) structuring private property. Thanks to its legal structure BrIM is able to participate as a cooperating partner on behalf of the City of Breda in risk-bearing PPS constructions to realise quality improvement on company sites.
Finally, N.V. Brim’s legal structure comes with a Board of Commissioners, which is able to advise management and the executive body in a professional market-oriented manner.

Shareholders

N.V. BrIM Breda is accountable to its shareholders, one of whom is the City of Breda who represents 99% of the equity while the other one is the Chamber of Commerce South-West Netherlands holding 1%. According to market research of 2008, the fact that all equity is owned by these two public bodies gives entrepreneurs a sense of reliability and security.

Board of Commissioners

The primary role of the Board of Commissioners is to supervise BrIM’s management. Its other role is to act as consultant. The Board of Commissioners consists of a representative of the City of Breda (alderman for Economic Affairs), the city council and a representative on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce. Furthermore, there are three external commissioners specialised in matters of law, finance and general management.
