Approximately 14 hectares of highly sustainable business area, parallel to the A16 connecting the mainports of Rotterdam and Antwerp, is to turn into a breeding ground for logistic innovation. A campus where the entire logistics sector in the Netherlands will meet. This is where numerous European and intercontinental meetings will be taking place.
Science, knowledge development, research and development, training and service will be joining up to lead to a positive spin-off for the Dutch logistics sector. Shippers and logistic services will thrive and manage to contribute a significant share to the Dutch GNP. All efforts are aimed at making the Netherlands into the European market leader in 2020 with respect to directing the transnational flow of goods.
The Technological Top Institute for Logistics is now known as Dinalog, Dutch Institute for Advanced Logistics. To realise the Dutch ambition, the Dinalog Campus is equally important as a success factor. Prior to the development and construction of the Campus, the institute has its seat in a new building opposite the campus location. Potential newcomers to the Dinalog Campus can also make use of this temporary accommodation.
The pillar to support the Dinalog Campus is the triple-i concept: inspiration, interaction and innovation! It creates a modern ecosystem in which as many facilities as possible are shared. Obviously, meetings and interaction cooperate with individual core activities. To realise a maximum of synergy, a wide range of activities is organised by, for and with campus users and the entire logistics sector. Dinalog Campus accommodates control towers and planning departments of European shippers, data centres, new innovative companies, start-ups, research & development departments and educational partners.
The formula holds the following facilities
This is exactly what Dinalog Campus is all about: making sure practice tests are run on new scientific insights in their operation process to prepare for the next step of wide implementation of new knowledge and expertise. Hence the campus development is based on an open innovation process. The master plan is due to be finished towards the end of 2010. It will show how the open, inspiring, creative atmosphere is to take shape. The number of facilities emphasizing meeting and interaction will be geared to the market. Future users will play a significant role in the development of the plans.
The Dinalog institute will be the driving force of an international, dynamic, innovative, logistic movement. The institute will compete for an unrivalled European top position. On the campus education partners and business will have a place in the sun and immediately benefit from this favourable position.
The logistic innovation programme is founded on a triple-pillar policy. Also for the development of the campus these are the guideline:
Generally speaking, these are the major developments in the sector and there are many contextual sub-developments. Meanwhile, the first scientific project proposals have been submitted at Dinalog (institute) and research is expected to take off as early as this year.
Summarizing, Dinalog connects worldwide scientific knowledge with education and practice in the sector overall. A physical presence in Breda, a mental presence everywhere.
